Located 65 km north of Koh Samui is Koh Tao, also known as Turtle Island. First inhabited in the 1950’s Koh Tao has grown to be the most popular destination for snorkeling and scuba diving in the whole of Thailand. The distinctive granite boulders characterize the shorelines, extending beneath the surface, shaping the underwater landscape.
The underwater topography at Koh Tao is dominated by these granite boulders which support the thriving coral reefs. The island boasts a diverse array of marine life with the chance to observe large schools of tropical fish. There is also the potential of sighting both green and hawksbill turtles whilst at certain times of year juvenile black tip reef sharks can be spotted at shallow sites.
